Retail development, as with other forms of commercial development, demands a train of thought to establish optimum use and maximum value, balanced with the needs and aspirations of end users with those of a site owner. In many instances, consideration to the needs of other site operators and any perceived hierarchy may be required. Liaison is the key to success and added to this mix is the obligation to satisfy the consumer and provide an environment that is both visually interesting and simple to navigate.
We have completed a significant number of projects in this field, new build and refurbishment schemes, ‘town centre’ and ‘out of town’ formats. Common throughout is the use of a bold architectural language and a strong, clear definition of the individual, whilst maintaining some control for the good of the whole.
