St. Michael’s C of E Church, Amersham
|
Description: |
This scheme formed part of a larger commercial development strategy and combined the requirements of the local community with the provision of a new church for the Parish of St. Michael, Amersham.
The complex brief required that sports and recreation facilities, including hall, stage, kitchen, meeting and seminar rooms, all open to a wide variety of community user groups, ‘dovetailed’ seamlessly with the requirements of a place of worship. In its appearance, the building draws upon the local vernacular, combined with strong geometric forms.
The result is a bold architectural statement, sensitive to the spiritual dimension of its use, standing proudly within the community.
