The Peel Centre, Phase 2, Barnsley

Description:

Following on from the successful completion of Phase 1, Phase 2 was commissioned to revamp an additional existing unit to be in keeping with the retail park’s new architectural language. Flat composite cladding panels with a matching metallic finish were introduced, as well as new aluminium framed glazed shop fronts and terracotta tiled entrance features to complete the look and improve the thermal quality and longevity of the unit.

At this time, the building was subdivided into three smaller units. A mezzanine floor was added to the largest of these to increase retail floor space and the existing anchor tenant remained in continuous trade throughout.

Pedestrian links between this and the remainder of the park were reinforced with a new external works layout despite this building’s remoteness from the main block and issues with levels.
